A practical retail guide
Gift Card Cutover Plan for a POS Change
Plan final gift card codes, balances, redemption changes and reconciliation without leaving duplicate liabilities.
Choose the redemption outcome
Identify the source provider and complete card identifiers. Agree native transfer, reissue or continued redemption in the old system. A masked export is not enough to assume old cards will work at the new checkout.
Control the final balance snapshot
Record the cutoff time, currency and how redemptions or new issues after rehearsal are captured. An illustrative $60 card redeemed by $25 before cutover should carry $35, not the earlier snapshot. Have a named owner authorize adjustments.
Test the approved receiving method
Check a partly used card, a zero balance, a duplicate identifier and a rejected code. Shopify’s ordinary export and Lightspeed gift-card workflows have different limits. Validate the customer-facing redemption process in the selected edition before issuing replacement balances.
Close the old redemption path deliberately
If codes are reissued, retain a protected mapping and decide when old balances stop being spendable. Reconcile card counts and liability totals by currency. Keep unresolved cards in an exception list instead of silently issuing both an old and new balance.

Migration scope and responsibilities
The standard migration fee is $2,999 USD for the confirmed scope.
Access to both systems
You must provide Sqquid full authorized access to both systems and be able to access your own data. Arrange access through an agreed secure process. Do not put passwords, API tokens, payment information or customer export files into the general enquiry form.
Source data quality
Sqquid is not responsible for migration errors caused by poor data supplied by the customer. Source issues, proposed corrections and exclusions need to be recorded before the transfer is accepted.
Earlier work and guarantee limits
Sqquid does not guarantee a migration that started before Sqquid was hired. Any guarantee is limited to the data migration work performed by Sqquid and expires on the launch date. Record the agreed launch milestone in the written scope; do not assume post-launch guarantee coverage.
Vendor charges and separate work
Vendor charges are passed to the customer in addition to the confirmed migration fee. POS implementation, hardware, payment setup, staff training and ongoing integrations have separate responsibilities and scope. A Sqquid software subscription is not required for the migration service.
